Water jet cutter (Omax Maxiem 1515)

A waterjet uses a high-pressure water stream mixed with abrasive dust to cut through nearly any material with minimal kerf.

Process Name

Waterjet

Applications

2D contour parts, sheet metal blanks, large format parts

Advantages

Cost effective option for cutting thick material, narrow kerf allows for small gaps and tight inside corners, high production volume

Limitations

Jet stream tapers as thickness increases, so walls are not perfectly square, cannot hold tight tolerances (0.005) over large distances (2'+)

Specifications

Minimum corner radius: 0.015" Maximum thickness: 5" Materials: metals, composites, plastics, glass, stone Taper: ~0.005"/in of thickness
