3-axis CNC (various Haas)

3 Axis CNC Milling is a subtractive process that rapidly removes material from a solid billet of material with a rotating cutting tool. The tool can move in the X, Y, or Z axis. Its motions are controlled by computer code, allowing for simultaneous movement in all 3 directions to create complex, curved surfaces.

Process Name

3 Axis CNC Mill

Applications

High tolerance parts with curved surfaces, high production volume.

Advantages

Offers high quality, high precision parts at a lower cost than a 5-axis machine when parts are somewhat simple.

Limitations

Complex parts with features on all sides will require large amounts of fixturing and setup to produce.
