Selective Laser Sintering (3D Systems ProX 6100)

Selective Laser Sintering is a polymer additive manufacturing (3D Printing) process in which a laser sinters metal particles together in thin layers to build support free parts and prototpes

Process Name

Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)

Applications

Weight reduced parts, parts with internal fluid channels, generativly designed parts, customized designs, cast part replacements etc.

Advantages

The large build volume allows 3D printing for short run production. Parts are manufactured without supports used in traditional 3D printing. Allows manufacture of parts with lattice structures and all in one assemblies with moving parts

Limitations

Requires post printing steps including depowdering. Material limited to Nylon PA12

Specifications

Build Volume: 381 x 330 x 460 mm (15 x 13 x 18 in) Material: Nylon PA12 Part quality and durability: Extra strong thermoplastics with superior mechanical properties, surface quality and fine-feature resolution for end-use parts that stand up to the rigors of long-term real world use, replacing traditionally injection molded articles. Food-grade, medical grade, flame-retardant capable. Part Colors: The natural resin is white, but parts can be dyed, painted or plated in various coatings
